With the rebound of Covid-19, severe restrictions are maintained today in Western and Central Cuba to stop its expansion.

On Friday, the government's top authorities advanced new measures to reduce the response time before the spread of the infections, currently reported in six provinces.

During the temporary working group meeting for the control of the disease, headed by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, it was announced the suspension of mass transport starting next Monday until September 30 and the reinforcement of restrictive measures in areas with ill people.

Also, the school year's resumption in the municipality of Cárdenas, province of Matanzas, in the west of the archipelago, was postponed for another week.

September 11 marked six months since the first cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the country. Since then, 4593 patients have tested positive, of which 3844 have recovered, according to the information provided by Health Minister, José Ángel Portal.

Meanwhile, Havana's Governor, Reynaldo Garcia Zapata, informed that after an assessment of the impact of the restriction measures implemented since the beginning of the month, although the capital's defense council considered that progress had been made, it has not been enough, and thus, it decided to main the measures in place until September 30,

During the meeting, Diaz-Canel urged all provincial authorities to intensify actions such as the surveillance of borders, increase the active and laboratory research, and restrict citizens' mobility to stop the virus.
