3 080 new COVID cases in Cuba, 17 deaths

Cuban health authorities announced 3 080 new COVID-19 infections and 17 deaths associated with the disease during the last 24 hours.
The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, said there were 14 435 active cases admitted to the hospitals, the highest number ever for a day since March last year.
Cuba now totals 188 023 cases and 1270 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
Matanzas has become the new epicenter of the disease, with 753 cases, followed by Havana with 387, Santiago de Cuba 333, Camaguey 297, and Ciego de Avila with 213 cases.
All told, June has reported 44 700 cases.
On the positive side, Dr. Duran informed that as of June 27 over 1 million Cubans had been fully immunized with three doses of the Cuban vaccine candidates Soberana 02 and Abdala, and 5 676 321 doses had been administered island-wide.
