The North American Non-Governmental Organization, The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) indicated on Wednesday that until this date this year there have been 293 mass shootings in the United States.

"There have been 293 mass shootings in the U.S. in 35 different states (and Washington DC) in the 179 days of 2022," GVA posted on its Twitter account.

This year alone 15 North American states have not experienced massive firearms incidents, including Utah, South Dakota, Alaska, Delaware, New Hampshire, Vermont, among others.

The schools of North American nation are the places where more incidents of this kind with firearms are registered, because according to the same NGO, in the last 10 years at least 900 schools have experienced shootings, 90 events approximately every 12 months.

In this regard, local media detailed that between 2009-2018, 288 school shootings were experienced in the U.S., 280 more than in Mexico, the second nation that experienced the most events of this type in the nine years chosen.

It’s estimated that in the United States, a population of about 328 million inhabitants has in their possession 393 million rifles and pistols, which means that it concentrates about 4% of the world's population, but 42% of the total weapons.
