1st International Congress of Graduates of Latin American School of Medicine concludes in Havana

The 1st International Congress of Graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM by its Spanish acronym) concluded today with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the institution, founded on the same date in 1999.
The event, which began on Wednesday at the Convention Center, brought together 300 representatives of 20 graduates to discuss topics such as primary health care, emergencies, natural disasters and pedagogy in Higher Medical Education.
Through a video, Miguel Diaz-Canel , first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, sent a congratulatory message to graduates, students, professors and workers of the educational institution for its 25 years of existence.
Cuban leader highlighted the legacy of Fidel Castro in the foundation of this love and solidarity project that has trained 31,180 doctors from more than 120 countries in the noble mission of saving lives.
Presiding over the ceremony were members of the Political Bureau Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, minister of foreign relations and secretary general of the Cuban Workers Federation, respectively; members of the Central Committee Sucely Morfa Gonzalez, head of the department of attention to the social sector; and Emilio Lozada, head of the International Relations Department; as well as Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Cuban deputy prime minister, and Jose Angel Portal Miranda, minister of public health, among others.
Delegates condemn Israel genocide against Palestine, the US blockade on Cuba, and made a call to remove Cuba from the spurious list of State sponsoring terrorism.
