After two days of suspension due to the collapse of the National Electric System, the 64th Cuban National Baseball Series will resume today with doubleheaders scheduled in several stadiums.
Schedule Adjustments
The National Baseball Commission announced in Circular No. 4 on Thursday that all games had been canceled the previous day. On Friday, suspended games from Tuesday will be completed along with the pending matchups from Wednesday.
At Havana’s Latinoamericano Stadium, Industriales and Mayabeque will continue their unfinished game, where the Hurricanes hold a partial lead, before playing the regularly scheduled second contest.
A similar situation will unfold in Artemisa, where the home team and Cienfuegos must first conclude their rain-halted matchup before moving on to their second game.
Key Matchups
The Santiago de Cuba Wasps, still reeling from a 22-0 loss to Pinar del Río in their last outing, will attempt to bounce back today against the Vegueros at the Guillermón Moncada Stadium.
Meanwhile, Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus will look to maintain their momentum after capitalizing on Santiago’s defeat to share the top spot in the standings.
Rescheduling and Recognitions
Thursday’s games have been rescheduled for Sunday, September 14, while maintaining the day’s previously planned matchups.
On Thursday, officials also announced the standout players of the opening week: Santiago outfielder Yoelquis Guibert and Sancti Spíritus pitcher Fernando Betanzo, selected through votes cast by fans, specialized media, and team executives.
