Shooting at Sacramento college leaves 1 dead and 2 injured

Sacramento Police said that they were alerted about the shooting, which occurred shortly before 16:00 local time (23:00 GMT) close to the softball field at the center's parking area, and dispatched several police cars to the site.

The police also said that the casualties were all students and only one of the two injured had to be transferred to a hospital.

Though there is no official information about the status of the hospitalized student, a personnel from the city's fire department claimed one of the injured was shot four times.

A manhunt is on for the suspect in the vicinity of the college and who is described as a native of the Pacific islands wearing a white shirt and cargo shorts.

As a protective measure, the students were kept confined within the institute premises for a few hours before they were evacuated under supervision of the authorities. All classes were suspended.
