Russian issue is hostage to US domestic policy, senator says

Moscow, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) The Russian issue today becomes an instrument of U.S. Democratic opposition to weaken president Donald Trump, and a hostage to the domestic politics of that country, denounced Senator Alexei Pushkov.

Commenting on a question from Prensa Latina about the intention of putting Russia as a sponsoring country for terrorism, the head of the Russian Senate's information policy committee considered that it also has economic purposes.

This is done independently of the desire in the US Congress to deny any positive step towards Moscow, after Trump's meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the White House, the legislator considered.

By placing this nation as a promoter of terrorism, this would provide a supposedly legal basis, according to US rules, to additionally sanction not only Russia, but any company that intends to do business with Moscow, including US companies, he estimated.

With the crazy idea of ??presenting as an accomplice of terrorism to one of the countries that more specifically fights against that scourge in the world, Washington seeks to take full advantage of the methods of political pressure or punishment to obtain economic dividends, said the senator.

The United States seems to lose the conditions and potential to keep its plans active to be a world hegemony, including in the economic sphere, with the usual trade methods, so it uses dissimilar practices, including sanctions, Pushkov said.

Regarding another question from this news agency about the situation in Latin America, the Russian senator felt that the United States has limited possibilities for the use of force, but uses all methods of unconventional or hybrid warfare.

This was the case of the coup against the legitimate government of Bolivian president, Evo Morales, and the failed attempts to place deputy Juan Gauido as interim president in Venezuela, said the head of the said committee.

On the other hand, Pushkov said we live in a world where printing is more important than content, and that was achieved by Trump with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), because he creates an image of an alleged breakthrough in the dialogue, when in reality everything stays the same.

Referring to the conflict in the Ukrainian Southeast, the Russian politician considered the possibility of its 'freezing', as its solution could be extended for years as in the north of Cyprus, the enclave of Nagorni Karabakh or the Transdniester region.
