Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that the Summit for Democracy, organized by the United States has reflected the moral isolation of the northern nation at an international level.

Through his Twitter account, the Foreign Minister stressed that the Summit was selective and virtual, ‘as virtual as its own democracy’, as well as questionably, whether the event dictated demagogic guidelines.

Held on March 29-30 in Washington, DC, the second edition of the Democracy Summit brought together world leaders of the United States’ liking in a virtual and face-to-face format.

Among its main themes were the challenges of accountable and transparent governance, conflicts, climate change and technological transformation.

For some political observers, however, these objectives were overshadowed by other unstated but latent purposes of the event, such as provoking animosity towards Russia and China.

The first edition of this Summit, held in December 2021, was widely criticized and even considered a failure.
