Havana, Feb 9 (RHC) The First International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Parties and Political Movements of the Left will be held from February 10 to 12 in this capital with the presence of prominent intellectuals.

Convened by the magazine Cuba Socialista, the event will discuss the great challenges facing revolutionary and progressive forces around the world.

The role of the youth and the new generations in the construction and defense of socialism, the necessary unity of the left in the complex context of the new world geopolitical configuration and the offensive of the right-wing, U.S. imperialism, the systemic and multidimensional crisis of capitalism on a world scale, the validity of the legacy of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, will be key issues to be discussed at the forum.

The opportunity to analyze the interventionist practices of U.S. imperialism, with its new models of warfare, hybrid wars, paramilitarism, economic siege, the role of media conglomerates and social networks, lawfare, and the judicial processes against politics in Latin America, will occupy other spaces in the sessions of a meeting that generates expectations among prestigious personalities from around the world, some of them present on the island.

In a world context in which the poverty and inequality of the great popular masses are growing at the same time as the wealth of an ever-smaller caste of privileged people, and when the danger of a world nuclear conflagration is a reality that is getting closer every day, it is urgent to globalize solidarity and respect for the self-determination of the peoples, for the rights of human beings.
