Havana, March 13 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Sunday expressed satisfaction following the announcement by his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of his upcoming visit to this Caribbean nation.

On Twitter, Díaz-Canel noted that the Mexican President announced in his morning press conference on Friday that he would be traveling to the island in the coming weeks.

He will be welcome. It is always a pleasure to receive brothers from the Patria Grande. #Mexico and @lopezobrador have a privileged place in our affections., wrote the Cuban head of state.

Along with his message, he posted a link to a Prensa Latina note describing the Mexican President's intention to visit Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Belize as part of a tour that will focus on the migration issue.

In 2021 both countries celebrated 120 years of uninterrupted relations, characterized by a special bond ratified last September during Díaz-Canel's visit to that neighboring nation to participate in the commemorative events of the 211th anniversary of the Grito de Dolores and the bicentennial of Independence.
