The meeting between the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the member of the Political Bureau of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Bounthong Chitmany, was focused on the satisfaction for the excellent state of party relations and the identification of new ways to deepen them.

Upon receiving the distinguished visitor at the Palace of the Revolution, they discussed today's Third Theoretical Seminar between the two organizations.

Earlier, Bounthong Chitmany had been received by the member of the Political Bureau of the PCC and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda, who stressed that relations between Cuba and Laos, which in November this year will be 50 years old, have been strengthening, and each meeting is a moment of mutual learning between the two Parties.

The website of the PCC also reported the fluid exchange of party delegations and of the different political and mass organizations of the Cuban society.

In turn, he thanked the Party, the Assembly, the Government and the people of that Asian nation for their firm position of repudiation and rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

Morales Ojeda expressed that, for the Communist Party of Cuba, it is of great relevance the interaction with the Lao comrades on issues of common interest, within the framework of the Exchange and Cooperation Agreement signed between both Parties, which allows "to continue placing the organization as a cornerstone of relations, not only political, but also economic and commercial," he reiterated.

Chitmany, who is also Vice President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful reception they have received, which reinforces the ideals, friendship and sincerity between the two Parties. He reiterated his satisfaction "for being on this Island, land of heroes".

Morales Ojeda was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women, Teresa Amarelle Boué, as well as other members of the Central Committee, heads of departments and other officials.

On the Lao side, attended by the member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and head of its Foreign Relations Committee, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, and Vanhtha Segmeuang, ambassador of Laos in Cuba.
