Cuban minister of energy and mines checks entities in the central-eastern region

Vicente de La O Levy, Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines, exchanged today with workers of the Camaguey Geomining Company, as part of a working visit to this province, with the purpose of checking the electric energy situation and the development of the sector's entities.

The Minister referred to the complex reality the country is going through due to the generation deficit and the gradual incorporation of the thermoelectric power plants (CTE by its Spanish acronym) that are undergoing maintenance, such as units 1 and 3 of the Santa Cruz del Norte CTE, in Mayabeque, and unit 1 of the Felton CTE, in Holguin.

He was also interested in the gold and chrome production and urged the collective to increase the results of these metals as they are important exportable items that have an impact on the economy of the national territory.

During the meeting, they talked about the main deposits in the central-eastern region, the geological studies and the high level of preparation of the personnel leading these activities, and he expressed the confidence he has in the association to move forward.

De La O Levy stated that it is important to implement different alternatives to continue production, save fuel and consolidate existing projects in order to achieve greater economic development.
