Ana Teresita González, Director General of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad, reaffirmed today the Cuban government’s commitment to listening to the proposals of its nationals.

Closing the Seventh Meeting of Cubans Residing in Latin America and the Caribbean, González emphasized that joining participants at the event was yet another demonstration of the country’s intention to improve the path toward closer unity.

She noted the importance of spaces like this one, which encourage honest dialogue based on mutual respect and aim to foster greater and more coordinated activism among Cubans, as well as new ways to support the defense and development of the homeland.

González acknowledged the valuable donations sent to Cuba during difficult times, recognizing the sacrifices many abroad have made to support the Cuban people.

She stated that the discussions over the weekend highlighted the need to enhance joint efforts and improve collaboration among Cubans living outside the island.

The ongoing fight against the U.S. blockade and Washington’s “maximum pressure” policy must remain systematic and constant, González stressed, as Cuba continues to face daily acts of hostility.

In this context, she called for better coordination of solidarity actions in each country and emphasized that working closely with pro-Cuba solidarity movements is essential to increasing their impact.

González also addressed the negative and misleading narratives about Cuba circulating on digital platforms. She urged the delegates to engage daily in virtual spaces to defend the nation and to make the most of existing digital forums in their countries of residence.

She identified the expansion of Cuban associations, the networking among regional organizations, and the strengthening of the Network of Cubans Residing in Latin America and the Caribbean as urgent tasks that would make their support efforts more visible and effective.

González also highlighted the importance of the Cuban diaspora's involvement in the country’s economic development, including small-scale investments that could improve the local economies where their families live.

She noted that the business forum held during the event provided valuable insights into how to present business proposals that align with Cuba’s key economic sectors, adding that Cuban institutions are ready to offer support.

“Although we must streamline our existing mechanisms, we are undoubtedly at a better moment to push forward this shared objective,” González said.

She concluded by reaffirming that permanent dialogue between the Cuban nation and its nationals abroad will continue.
