Cuba ratified its interest in continuing medical collaboration in Algeria
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 14 (ACN) Cuban minister of public health, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, exchanged today in Algeria with the directors of the Cuban medical mission in that country, where the island's international collaboration in that sector began 59 years ago.
On Twitter, the head of health said that 882 professionals currently provide health services in that North African nation, and the meeting addressed the possibilities of continuing to increase cooperation.
Portal Miranda described Cuba's international medical collaboration as a genuine labor of love of the Revolution, which for almost 60 years has brought to Algeria 4,559 health workers.
According to figures from the Cuban ministry of public health, since the beginning of these medical missions, on May 23, 1963 in Algeria, some 605,698 professionals from the island have served in 130 countries.
Currently, more than 25,688 are working in 59 countries.
