Cuba launched a new digital government initiative today with the creation of the "Centro de Gobierno Digital" and the rollout of the Soberanía platform, which centralizes government information and services online.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero announced the launch on the social media platform X, stating that the move places “digital transformation at the center of online procedures for citizens.”

He specified that the platform is available at http://soberania.gob.cu and aims to advance digital governance, simplify administrative processes, and promote citizen participation through an inclusive approach.

“This initial phase will focus on evaluating the platform’s performance and setting priorities for further development,” Marrero said.

In its first stage, the Soberanía platform will allow Cuban citizens to complete several procedures online, including services related to the Civil Registry, as well as the replacement of lost or damaged driver’s licenses, vehicle registration documents, and national ID cards.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel also highlighted the platform’s significance, noting that it streamlines administrative processes and public services. He described it as “an initial phase that evaluates its performance and is open to public feedback.”

Additionally, the Ministry of Justice implemented the use of electronic documents across its national services today, marking a coordinated step toward digitalization across multiple government sectors.
