Cuba to host International Meeting on Documentary Heritage

The José Martí National Library (BNJM) in Cuba is hosting the 3rd International Meeting on Preservation of Documentary Heritage: Experiences and Challenges from Monday to September 22, an event for exchanging experiences among professionals in the field.
The meeting, organized by the BNJM, is promoting the exchange of experiences on preserving documentary heritage in national and international contexts, including conservation, restoration, digitization, and digital preservation.
The opening keynote speech “Preserving Cuba’s Documentary History at the BNJM,” will be given by Osdiel R. Ramírez, researcher-restorer of this cultural institution.
Also scheduled are the lectures on “Law No. 6/1942” and the preservation of documents in Cuba, “General Guidelines for the Preservation of Documentary Sources in the Republic of Cuba,” and “Count, Select, Preserve, Restore: Diagnosis for the Effective Preservation of Collections.”
The last minutes of Monday’s program is to inaugurate the exhibition “Entre Necesidad y Huella,” presented by the BNJM’s director Omar Valiño and curator Osdiel R. Ramírez.
