Cuban authorities and from the construction sector are currently developing several strategies to achieve further growth of the national economy, especially in the fields of tourism and related services.

According to a report published in Juventud Rebelde newspaper on Sunday, among the provisions adopted in the country's hotel industry is hiring skilled and efficient workforce.

The newspaper added that 'maybe as a result of not knowing in depth the problems with the workforce in the construction sector, the presence of Indian workers in the construction of the Manzana de Gomez hotel in Havana calls people's the attention.

Hiring of Indian monitor-workers in those works, carried out by the French construction company Bouygues, is entirely coherent with the provisions of the legislation governing these contracts in Cuba, executives from the real estate company ALMEST, one of the largest and more experienced entities of its kind in the country, told Juventud Rebelde.

'Their presence here is mainly due to the need to recover delays in the critical construction plan. They are highly skilled construction workers, with experience elsewhere,' the managers said.

According to the newspaper, there is another group of nearly 120 workers from India who were hired in the tourist resort of Varadero, about 150 kilometers east of Havana.

Strategies like that respond to the strong interest in raising Cuba's competitiveness in tourism markets, which also goes through the diversification and accelerated strengthening of complementary services and accommodation.

According to ALMEST, the works on the Manzana de Gomez hotel in Havana will be completed in the early 2017. It will be a luxury facility that will be run by Gaviota Tourism Group, of Cuba, and the international Kempinski Hotels.
