Raul Congratulates Western Army Combatants

Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, sent on Tuesday a message of congratulations to the combatants of Cuba's Western Army, reported the Granma daily.

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of its creation, "in the face of the urgent need of strengthening the protection of the western territory, particularly the country's capital," the Cuban head of state sent his congratulations to the Western Army combatants for the results achieved in the defense of the nation.

In his message, he points out: "Throughout these years you have been present in repelling enemy aggressions, in fulfilling internationalist missions, in protecting the population and in the preservation of economic goods in the face of the occurrence of natural disasters.

And concluded Raul: "You have also been instrumental in increasing the levels of readiness and training for combat, as well as in the strengthening our defensive strategic conception of the War of All the People (Guerra de Todo el Pueblo).
