With a central activity in a hotel of the capital hotel, Cuba will celebrate today the 50th anniversary of the Tricontinental Conference and the constitution of the OSPAAAL Thursday. The rememoration will be in the same place in which it took place between January 3 and 14, 1966, the meeting that united the historical leaders of the revolutionary movements and of national liberation of that time.

One day after the First Tricontinental, and as a result of one of its agreements, the leaders constituted the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (Ospaaal), in order to coordinate and impel the struggle of the peoples of three continents for a better world.

With this intention, between the scourges that the entity still today fights there are the colonialism, neocolonialism and imperialism.

Another of its programmatic targets is to support the revolutionary struggle like an inalienable right of all the peoples, and defend the right of every nation to have the government and the political, economic and social diet that was determining its sovereign will, without foreign interferences.

Throughout its almost half a century of existence, as it prays in its official web (www.tricontinental.cu), the Ospaaal keeps its targets and beginning alive fundacionales, which it updates and enriches to tone with the international events and the united needs of the peoples.

The organization, with head office in Havana, constituted the main result of a conference without precedents, which managed to assemble 512 delegates and more 270 guests of 82 countries: the Tricontinental.

Developed in the context of the ascent of the struggle of the third-world countries against the colonial domination, the meeting was possible thanks to the impulse, example of antimperialista resistance and enthusiasm that radiated the victory of the Cuban Revolution (1959) in the submitted peoples.

Another activity of homage that will take place in Havana concerning both anniversaries is the concert "50 Years of Awkward Singing," on January 22, which will assemble troubadours' interpretations and sympathizers with the causes of the OSPAAAL.

Also, from February 4 until the same day of the following month, in the Spanish-American Center of Culture, the exhibition 50 looks to the struggles of the Third World will show a selection of the cartels of solidarity more representative of the graphic trajectory of the organization.
