Turkmen State University opens its doors to Cuba

The rector of the Turkmen State University Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva showed interest in collaborating with Cuban institutions, on meeting here with the Cuban Ambassador to this country, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, diplomatic sources reported this Wednesday. According to the Cuban diplomat, the work meeting held at the university headquarters offered an opportunity to assess collaborative projects and strengthen the relations of friendship between the two nations.

Nieves Portuondo highlighted the research projects and doctoral programs developed in Cuban universities and research centers.

On the other hand, the university rector stressed the ties that unite both countries and also explained the work carried out by her institution in cooperation in the fields of scientific research and postgraduate studies with other universities in the region.

Orazdurdiyeva appreciated the visit made to the University, which, she underscored, "'will help strengthen the ties of cooperation and friendship between the universities of Cuba and Turkmenistan."

The Turkmen State University was founded on July 14, 1950. It has been a member of the Eurasian Association of Universities since 1989 and is currently named after the Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli.

The institution has international cooperation agreements with the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Baku State University, Yerevan State University, Belarusian State University and the Romanian State University, among others.
