Guyana and Cuba Increase Friendly Relations

Representatives for Guyana and Cuba ratified in this capital both countries' willingness to continue strengthening the traditional friendly and cooperation relations, diplomatic sources reported today.

Such purpose was expressed in a meeting between Carl Barrington, Guyanan minister of Foreign Afffairs and second vice president, and Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Cuban ambassador to this Caribbean country.

During the meeting, both officials they agreed on the need to extend collaboration to new areas that contribute to regional integration in the framework of authorities, such as the Caribbean Community, the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

The fraternal meeting was held few days before Cuba hosted several ACS meetings.

ACS is a regional mechanism that boosts collaboration in important sectors, such as tourism, trade, transportation and the battle against climate change.
