The National Security Memorandum signed by Donald Trump this Monday, while expected as an extreme economic war declaration against Cuba, still shocks with its manipulative nature and the unscrupulous actions of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Using his influence and political leverage, Rubio seeks to bring the Cuban people to their knees through coercive measures.

The genocidal chorus of anti-Cuban congressmen celebrates what they see as Rubio's "progress" – a man who has long advocated for military intervention and suffocation tactics against the very people he claims to support. Their strategy involves inciting violence, promoting terrorist provocations from U.S. soil, and manipulating internal Cuban affairs through their designated puppet, disguised as a diplomatic representative but actively working to subvert and destabilize carefully targeted sectors of Cuban society.

Meanwhile, those accused of betrayal—both in Miami and within the U.S. Embassy in Havana—turn their backs on hundreds of thousands of migrants and those seeking to travel. They push to ban remittances, restrict travel, and block business exchanges, revealing their annexationist agenda built on resentment and deception.

The Miami Herald and figures like Nora Gámez, a known propagandist specializing in fake leaks, fabricated news, and interventionist pretexts, have been instrumental in promoting this aggressive agenda. Gámez, a USAID employee with intelligence ties, has helped amplify threats and intimidation, predicting Cuba's imminent collapse.

With sensationalism and cruelty, The Herald describes the memorandum as "a significant step in implementing the hardline policy against Cuba promised by Secretary of State Marco Rubio," adding that "the U.S. will sanction foreign companies doing business with Cuban military-linked firms as part of a maximum pressure campaign against the communist island."

Extraterritorial sanctions, coercion, and blackmail—the preferred tools of Rubio and his de facto boss in the White House—are once again deployed to scare off foreign investment, intimidate businesses operating in Cuba, and deliver a crushing blow to tourism through increased persecution and obstacles. All while tightening the blockade with every coercive measure they can devise.

With shameless cynicism, the same architects of Cuba’s digital limitations now promise to "expand internet access and the free flow of information to Cubans" – a thinly veiled justification for intensified subversion.

The Trumpist memorandum introduces new blacklists to punish Cuba’s economy, prohibiting foreign companies from doing business with Cuban enterprises tied to the military. It also imposes regulations to block direct or indirect financial transactions with these entities.

Travel to Cuba will face periodic audits and stricter controls, while the Treasury Department expands its definition of "prohibited Cuban government officials" to include all employees of the Interior Ministry, the Armed Forces, and even the Supreme Court.

In these precarious times—with nuclear threats looming, American democracy faltering under imperial overreach, attacks on lawmakers, persecution of journalists, prosecutors, lawyers, pro-Palestine student protesters, and migrants forcibly detained in military-run camps—it comes as no surprise that Trump has once again aligned himself with the warmongers targeting Cuba.
