Is a Martyr Born?

The murder of Charlie Kirk is an example of the instrumentalization of violence and class struggle in the heart of the North American empire.

The news was strident, heavily mediated, controversial, and even a bit of a show, with apologies to the mourners. Who was Kirk? One of the most dissonant and well-funded voices of the American radical right. The incident cannot be seen as just an isolated tragic event. Some analysts say it directly responds to what we see across the board in that country: an internal decline in its values, with foundations that are shaking, revealing the true capitalist society, violent and decaying.

Kirk's death is a criminal act, it's true, but if we look closely, everything that followed is nothing more than well-orchestrated manipulation by that conservative political machine. In reality, the incident follows a logical sequence fueled by that rhetoric that dehumanizes political opponents, so typical, because nowadays we find no better way to rise than by disqualifying others and doing everything possible to crush them, instead of trying to rise on our own merits. Therefore, Kirk is a consequence of the same thing he supported in life, but of an even greater monstrosity.

The truth is that he didn't die because he had "controversial" ideas," he wasn't a great thinker, but he did defend the fiercest libertarianism, climate denialism, visceral anti-communism, and, of course, unrestricted capitalism. His stance was quite extreme, violent, and incendiary against any different formulation, and he earned a living thanks to billions in funding from his Turning Point USA, an organization that promotes conservative values in young people. However, what's happening now is very convenient: a martyr is being fabricated.

The right will spare no effort to use Kirk, to make us believe that he was murdered for his conservative beliefs, that he was almost a saint, a redeemer. And that doesn't mean we should accept death. Not this one, not any other! But we also shouldn't forget the violent content of his speech and the climate of hatred surrounding it, in order to focus solely on the fact that he was the victim.

As we can see, propaganda works; it's perfect for consolidating the narrative. It's a device that delivers results. That's why today we see how this generalization and persecutory victimization makes not only the murderer look guilty, but to every form of leftism. Therefore, Kirk becomes that "just in time" Trojan horse to make it more difficult to coexist in a system that condemns the alternative.

Laws will come, they will be more closely monitored, and along the way, the opposition and its entire project will be more severely criminalized, no matter how much talk of civil rights and social improvements. The right will find a way to capitalize on terror, oppress, and divide. The political consequences seem clear. Beyond a warning to the left, we see a strengthened fascism coming, radicalization will accelerate, and violence will increase. With Trump in power, it won't be difficult; everyone will be very susceptible to the slightest flutter. What we mustn't forget is that, although it may seem very ideological, capital will always benefit, so this is very suspicious.

This isn't about the historic conflict between the red and blue sides; it's the powers marking their territory, using the figure of Kirk. Let's analyze the positions carefully, read between the lines, and evaluate how much we find in them that defends life, Social justice and peace. Let’s be critical of what we see, let’s look beyond the surface.

The murder of Charlie Kirk is a tragedy, it's true; death cannot be seen any other way. But such an attack and everything that followed is a sign of the rottenness of a system, of the crisis of imperialism, which doesn't hesitate to grab onto any straw to further its aims, which are the same as always: "to save civilization, the West, and the American republic." And absolutely everything fits into that small phrase.
