The world of technology, smart devices and the internet, more than a parallel being, has become a complementary element and inseparable from our lives. Wake up and see life and all daily actions that gravitate around you without mobile data or a WiFi it already seems impossible to find and to be able to carry out countless every-day actions.

Our country does very little, it’s almost overnight, people woke up within that vast of intercommunicated and vast universe of information, this was when the mobile data service advanced further in the race of Internet in our homes, Nauta Hogar, given the infrastructure and characteristics of these two technologies, which are both constantly updating and growing.

As if we had always done it and they had always existed, routines like drinking coffee at various times of the day, they are also like communicating by WhatsApp, Telegram, interact, and exchange materials image, audio, and video with friends and family through social networks like Facebook and Instagram, and read newspapers through their web platforms and not on its printed edition.

For many it has been od to associate older people with technologies, developing, and using more than just a cell phone, as a team smart and tactile, with multiple options, and even more, with internet, yet it has been surprising to see how Cuban elderly grandparents and uncles have understood and know how to work around them, even better than early generations.

Opening Google Chrome or Safari also provides the option to navigate in a such a vast ocean of knowledge, information, but also dubious and false content, which students can from their mobile phones consult data to do their school work, doctors specify some data from recent studies, chefs, and housewives look for any cooking recipe.

Although being intercommunicated means much more than all this, in our nation solutions such as e – government are gradually applied in our electronic nation, online ticket booking for performances in the theater and the e-commerce, which, despite being deployed throughout the national territory, it takes a lot of effort to achieve a better use and customer satisfaction.

However, abroad, and not in all countries that surround us, since there’s a real * digital gap* between rich and poor virtual assistants like Alexa, play your favourite tracks for you and warn you of the weather in the next few hours. The refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, television, and music can be tuned and controlled from the cell phone.

Something that we haven’t reached yet, the distribution of multimedia content through a computer network, the new television in Streaming, has shifted to direct satellite broadcast channel packages like DIRECTV or Dish Network, and to the premieres in theatres, more now with the issue of the pandemic that we must keep physical and social distancing.

According to Worldometer website, an estimate counter and real-time statistics for various topics based on dissimilar algorithms, there are more than 4.8 billion internet users on the planet, out of a current world population of more than 7.8 billion people, which indicates that almost 40% of the world's population still don’t have Internet access.

With a population of over 11 million, the equivalent of 0.15% of the world's population, according to the General Global and Digital Report 2021:

Cuba on trends and digital and social media statistics, in January 2021, has more than 7.70 million Internet users, which represents an Internet penetration rate of 68%.

The * Computerization o Society Program * directed by president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, has been an issue to prioritize and highlight in recent months, hence the nation has experienced a remarkable opening to this entire universe, deep in several actions and processes, and promote the modernization and implementation of new technologies.

According to a publication of the Granma newspaper on May 10th, “Cuba strives so that in 2021 the modernization of the technological infrastructure, which reinforces the implementation and strengthening, in the country, of e-commerce and e-government, as well as well as other services to society”.

He also highlighted that “more than four million Cubans accessed internet through mobile phones in 2020, and 1.7 million through 4G technology”, and “so far this year, Cuba has installed more than 189 new LTE cellular radio station with the aim of continuing to provide better internet access as well access to the 4G / LTE mobile telephone network”.

Today, May 17th, International Internet Day is celebrated in almost the entire planet, in the hands of the Association of Internet Users and the Internet Society, with the aim of promoting the need for new peoples to join this computerization, with this, such digital gaps are closed, and a greater number of people can have access to more information.
