The General Customs of the Republic recently detected a passenger at José Martí International Airport attempting to smuggle ingested drugs, resulting in the seizure of 48 cocaine capsules, reported Wiliam Pérez González, First Deputy Chief of the institution.

Pérez González stated via his profile on the social media platform X that the detection was the result of a risk analysis conducted by Customs and the Anti-Drug Body, which constitutes a primary strength in the confrontation of international drug trafficking.

The official explained that this modus operandi represents a serious risk to the lives of those who transport illicit substances and reaffirms Cuba's policy of zero tolerance toward drug trafficking.

The General Customs of the Republic maintains its strategy of closing ranks at the border against the scourge of drugs, in compliance with the state policy of protecting the health and safety of the population.
