Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez affirmed today that local authorities will continue advocating for democratic and participatory internet governance in content generation, one that defines the rights and responsibilities of each stakeholder.

"We will continue defending from Cuba informational and digital sovereignty, as well as a democratic and participatory model of internet governance," the Cuban foreign minister said in a message on X.

"The unstoppable development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the expansion of its use across multiple sectors is a global trend," Rodríguez commented.

"However," he concluded, "AI's ability to access and process a large volume of information, in many cases without verifying it, can promote the increasing circulation of fake news."

He also reiterated that Cuba "demands algorithmic transparency, regulation, independent audits, and the right of States and peoples to know by what criteria these AIs are trained and adjusted."
