Commitment to the Nation and Defense of Sovereignty Reaffirmed
Cuban authorities underscored this Friday the significance of May Day mobilizations across the country as clear expressions of workers’ commitment to the nation and the defense of sovereignty.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, who led the march in the province of Matanzas, emphasized on X the motivations of the thousands of participants: “for peace, for sovereignty, against the blockade and all threats.”
“We march because Cuba does not surrender and knows no path other than victory,” he added.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the people reaffirmed in every street and square their support for the Party, the Government, and national leadership in the face of current threats and what he described as a U.S. energy blockade.
Health Minister José Angel Portal also noted on the same platform that Cuban workers are celebrating this May Day with the conviction that unity remains their greatest strength in confronting challenges.
“Every worker, from their respective position, is a unique and indispensable pillar of the country’s progress,” he stressed.
The central event marking International Workers’ Day was held at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune, led by Army General Raúl Castro and President Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party’s Central Committee. Thousands of residents marched through various avenues to the emblematic square.
“This people demonstrated, in the face of an enemy that threatens and aggresses it, that the Homeland is defended and that it will never surrender the banners of sovereignty and independence,” stated the Communist Party of Cuba on X.
