Through his account on the social media platform X, the foreign minister warned that these actions add to the energy siege imposed by Washington, which causes devastating humanitarian consequences for the Cuban people.

"Seven thousand containers remain detained in various ports around the world, with cargo previously contracted and paid for in accordance with international trade rules. Most of them contain food, medicines, and medical devices," Rodríguez added.

The sole objective of preventing their arrival in Cuba is to intensify the collective punishment that the U.S. government is imposing on the Cuban people, Rodríguez noted.

Cuban authorities have recently denounced that direct U.S. threats against international shipping companies are causing the interruption of cargo services to the island, adding shortages to the daily lives of Cubans.
