Putin Meets with Trump’s Envoys at the Kremlin

Vladimir Putin met at the Kremlin with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who arrived in Moscow this Saturday to discuss a possible solution to the Ukrainian conflict.

During the meeting, which lasted more than three hours, the Russian president conveyed words of gratitude and his best wishes to his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, he acknowledged that the situation is not an easy topic to address.

"I understand that [Trump] is stepping into a situation that is not easy; nevertheless, he does not stop in his attempts to find a solution, to make his contribution to the resolution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict," Putin stated, promising to address with Witkoff and Kushner "all aspects" of that issue.

"For our part, we are also ready to inform them about how we see this situation," he added.

The head of state echoed the envoys’ upcoming visit to the Ukrainian capital after their trip to Moscow. "Whatever happens in the future, contacts of this kind undoubtedly always bring benefits," he stressed, assuring that the level of trust on the part of the Russian government toward both men is "quite high." "We feel comfortable working with you," he expressed.

"President Trump sent his best wishes," Witkoff noted, also thanking the Russian leader for suspending attacks against Kyiv for three days. "We received this request through official channels, via intelligence services and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to cease attacks on Kyiv. I gave the corresponding order, and since midnight today, no attacks have been carried out against Kyiv," Putin responded.

In that regard, the Russian president noted that the Ukrainian side "also significantly reduced the intensity of its attacks" against Russian territory, including Moscow.

On a personal note, Witkoff described the negotiations with Putin as one of the most memorable events that will remain etched in his memory.

"We were sitting at the doors of this office waiting for that meeting: Jared [Kushner], Kirill [Dmitriev, special envoy of the Russian Presidency], and I, and then Yuri [Ushakov, Russian presidential advisor] joined us, and we all talked about how when we retire, we will have all these incredible stories and incredible memories, and yours will be at the top above all," he said.
