Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, condemned on Saturday the attacks carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran, calling on the international community to take action to halt what he described as a dangerous escalation of the conflict.

The head of state indicated that the actions launched on February 28 violate Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and constitute a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Writing on his official profile on the social media platform X, Díaz-Canel stressed that with this operation, the United States and Israel have, for the second time, undermined diplomatic efforts related to the nuclear issue.

He also warned that the aggression endangers regional and international peace and security — a reality already reflected in the consequences being reported across the region.

"The international community must act immediately to stop this aggression and an escalation whose consequences are unpredictable," the Cuban leader wrote.

Israel and the United States carried out strikes this Saturday — without a prior declaration of war — against numerous civilian and military installations in Iran, hitting cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Kermanshah, Qom, Karaj, Bushehr, Chabahar, and Bandar Abbas.

The attacks also reportedly included assassination attempts against President Masoud Pezeshkian, Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Musavi, among other high-ranking officials.

In June 2025, a previous military strike against Iran had already derailed multilateral efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and pursuing diplomatic solutions to address concerns over the country's civilian nuclear program.

The latest Israeli actions, backed by the United States, coincided with a meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as an upcoming round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States.
