Iran Asserts It Has a Plan to Defeat the U.S. in Its Economic War

Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref assured on Saturday that his country has a plan to counteract and defeat the United States in its economic war against Tehran, according to PressTV.

Aref noted that Washington believed it could achieve its objectives—as it did during the 1953 coup—but its calculations have once again proven erroneous.

He further indicated that, beyond the economy, the U.S. is targeting the Islamic Republic's social capital, and he called for its preservation, describing this effort as a necessity and, in a sense, a greater battle.

Last month, the U.S. Department of the Treasury unveiled Operation "Economic Pariah," a new strategy of economic pressure against Iran, described by Secretary Scott Bessent as "the largest financial offensive ever orchestrated against an adversary" and the start of an economic "D-Day."

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted that Washington's campaign is destined to fail. Araghchi recalled that the U.S. had already promised 14 years ago to impose the harshest sanctions in history and, in his view, "failed." "We have already seen this movie. Same old nonsense. Different bullies," he added.
