A donation of skimmed powdered milk from Mexico began distribution Monday in the province of Holguín, as part of the humanitarian aid sent by that nation to benefit prioritized population groups.

Miguel Yohannis Justiz Valle, director of the Holguín Dairy Company, told ACN that the donation consists of 270 metric tons of skimmed milk received by the country, of which 27,075 kilograms were allocated to the province. The supply is directed toward children between the ages of one and two, and two and six, each of whom will receive one kilogram of the product.

The official noted that this delivery provides ten days of coverage of the product for both age groups across all 14 municipalities, with distribution proceeding from the most remote areas through to the warehouses of the provincial capital.

In light of the existing fuel shortage — a consequence of the hostile policy of the United States toward Cuba — a single vehicle was designated for transportation to the eastern territories of Moa, Sagua de Tánamo, Mayarí, Frank País, and Cueto, Justiz Valle emphasized.

One or two vehicles will be used for the remaining territories. In the case of the city of Holguín itself, four electric tricycles were made available to supply the warehouses located near the company, allowing for the immediate transfer of the powdered milk, he explained.

The Mexican government sent Cuba several metric tons of food and essential goods in an act of solidarity in response to the shortages affecting the Caribbean nation following the executive order signed by the administration of Donald Trump to block the entry of fuel.
