On another historic day, reminiscent of that January 18, 2020, the people of this western city today filled the streets in a delirious manner to celebrate, alongside the Cocodrilos de Matanzas, the conquest of a new title in the LXIV National Baseball Series (SNB).

Accompanied by the main political and government authorities in Matanzas province, the brand-new champions toured a circuit through the territorial capital municipality, interacted with local fans, and received the warmth of an audience that overcame obstacles to be present at every competitive venue or send messages of encouragement from afar.

"This has been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time; seeing people this happy commits us to continue defending the colors of the Cocodrilos," Eduardo Blanco, captain of the red ship and most valuable player of the postseason, stated exclusively to the Cuban News Agency.

The center fielder, spearhead of the offense led by Armando Ferrer, assured that at this moment he only thinks about savoring the spoils of victory and preparing for a new campaign with the saurians, without ruling out the possibility of representing Cuba in any international event to which he may be summoned.

Meanwhile, Armando Ferrer, manager of the champions, specified that this triumph was forged from preseason preparation and hinted at his possible continuity at the helm of the squad that practically swept its rivals in the playoffs, prevailing in 12 of the 14 games played.

The victory of the Cocodrilos de Matanzas in the 64th Series meant the second crown for teams under the Matanzas name (2020 and 2026) and the seventh for representative selections of the western territory, adding the three of Henequeneros (1970, 1990, and 1991) and another pair from Citricultores (1977 and 1984).

As a group prize, the Cocodrilos team will represent the largest of the Antilles from March 24 to 29 in the 2026 Baseball Champions League Americas, scheduled to be held in Mexico City.
