Cuba Suffers Second Loss in Americas Series as Navigators Prevail
The Magallanes Navigators, entrenched at the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium, defeated Cuba 8-4 today to secure their second victory in the 2026 Gran Caracas Americas Series.

The Turkish Ship, with César Izturis at the helm and backed by their fans at La Rinconada, blasted a visiting team that, in two outings, has been unable to secure a win in this continental tournament.

Early Lead Slips Away Due to Control Issues
The team led by Germán Mesa struck first, scoring three runs in the initial inning, quickly taking control of the game against pitcher Emilio Vargas.

However, the Navigators reacted almost immediately and turned the scoreboard around by producing four runs thanks to a grand slam by Rouger Odor—a hit that also prompted the departure of starting pitcher José Ignacio Bermúdez from the mound.

Far from giving up, the Cubans responded in the second inning and tied the game with a hit by Roel Santos, but the lack of control from their pitchers allowed the Magallanes team to regain control of the contest and not relinquish it for the rest of the night.

The losing pitcher, Osdany Rodríguez, conceded three walks—one intentional—and his substitute Michel Cabrera came in to douse the fire with gasoline by giving up another walk and hitting a batter, both actions with the bases loaded.

Coach Identifies Recurring Problem
"We started ahead and couldn't hold the lead. That's a problem. The starting pitcher didn't last; he needed to reach at least the fourth or fifth inning to carry the game further. He didn't hold up, the game got away from there, it was tied, we didn't know how to preserve the advantage," added the coach.

Other Series Results
In today's other matches, the Metropolitan Eagles of Panama defeated the Colombian Barranquilla Caimans 3-2 to maintain their undefeated record in three outings, and the Curaçao Cannons dispatched the Nicaraguan León Lions 7-3.
