The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will present The Magic of Dance next weekend at the Avellaneda Hall of the Teatro Nacional in the capital.

Under the direction of prima ballerina Viengsay Valdés, general director of the prestigious company, the performances will take place on May 8, 9, and 10, all scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time.

The Magic of Dance is an anthological showcase that brings together selections from classical ballets in the renowned versions by Alicia Alonso, a BNC press release highlighted.

The included titles are: Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake, concluding with the finale of Gottschalk Symphony, a synthesis of popular dance and classical academic technique.

The lineup is headed by the company's leading figures: principal dancers Viengsay Valdés, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernández, Ányelo Montero, and Yankiel Vázquez.

Also part of the program are principal character dancer Ernesto Díaz; principal dancer Gabriela Druyet; soloists Laura Kamila and Alianed Moreno; and other rising artists such as Carolina Estrada, Bertho Rivero, Nadila Estrada, Alejandro Alderete, Carolina Fonseca, and Roque Salvador.
