As has been the case every year in recent times, Cuba celebrates a day today to reaffirm the values and the essence of the history of the Revolution during the commemoration of International Workers' Day.

This is generally outlined by the Central Workers' Union of Cuba (CTC) in its call to commemorate this anniversary in the streets and squares of the country under the central slogan: The Homeland Defends Itself.

This May 1st, the date is marked by a context highlighting the urgency of revitalizing internal economic dynamics and the need to show cohesion, unity, and civic and popular will to defend a model that, according to local authorities, remains a benchmark in the region.

A clear example of the latter is the arrival in the Cuban capital of prominent figures, representatives of progressive movements, and members of various trade union organizations from several countries, who are participating these days in acts of solidarity with the Cuban Government and people.

The International Workers' Day celebrations, as is tradition, will extend beyond the limits of Havana; in every locality, events will be held to celebrate the date and recognize outstanding workers and labor collectives.

Here in Havana, the epicenter of the celebration, thousands of Cubans are summoned to gather in front of the United States Embassy at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune, arriving from various points of the city in marches beginning at 06:00 local time.

For the CTC, the Cuban Revolution is a living process, and in its narrative of struggle and resilience, this day is ideal for workers to show their support and the will to defend it against any threat, especially the hostility of the current U.S. administration.
