The Federal Security Service (FSB) reported today the detention of a German citizen who was carrying a bomb with which she intended to carry out a terrorist act at a security facility.

According to the FSB communication, the woman, who was used as a money mule in fraudulent schemes, was detained in the city of Pyatigorsk and was receiving orders from Ukrainian intelligence services.

The suspect, born in 1969, was carrying an explosive device in her backpack with a power equivalent to 1.5 kilograms of TNT, containing shrapnel elements. Thanks to electronic warfare devices, the detonation of the bomb was blocked, and the woman, who was expected to perish in the attack, was arrested in the vicinity of the premises chosen as the target.

According to the FSB, the failed attack was scheduled for the morning hours in order to cause the highest possible number of victims among law enforcement officers.

In parallel, a second suspect was identified whose mission was to activate the explosive device via remote control.

The actions of the subject, a national of a Central Asian country born in 1997 and a sympathizer of radical ideology, were coordinated by agents of the Ukrainian secret services who posed as militants of an international organization designated as terrorist in Russia.

The detainees confessed and stated that the lethal means were extracted from caches set up by the Ukrainian secret services.
