The Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba transmitted its congratulations to the Island today for the successful operation of a photovoltaic park installed with the assistance of member countries from that solidarity organization.

The message, signed by Milagros Rivera—President of the Network and the Solidarity Committee for the Caribbean nation in Costa Rica—also recognizes the workers of the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp (CIJAM) in the western province of Artemisa, where the energy unit was installed.

The communication is addressed to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the authorities of the Caimito municipality (where CIJAM is located), and the May Day International Brigade, which this year honors the centenary of Commander Fidel Castro.

The message highlights the rapid contributions toward the installation by solidarity activists from Puerto Rico, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Costa Rica to provide energy to our camp and contribute to defeating the genocidal oil blockade on Cuba imposed by terrorist president Donald Trump.

Furthermore, the declaration values the contributions to this solar energy initiative for our House in Cuba and for the Caimito Polyclinic, by Mexico and Paraguay, for the benefit of the population, the CIJAM workers, and the brigadistas who travel to help the country.

In this way, the note underscores, we are seeking ways to confront the genocidal blockade against Cuba. Our campaign is broad and permanent throughout this year of Fidel’s Centenary.

The communication also calls for millions of friends around the world to continue demonstrating that Cuba is not alone, and invites governments that vote every year for the lifting of the blockade at the UN to join this crusade.

The text particularly emphasizes that those oil-producing countries must defy imperial orders to practically break the blockade against Cuba.
