Super middleweight Arlen López, featherweight Saidel Horta, and flyweight Alejandro Claro remained undefeated in professional bouts as the architects of a perfect performance for the Domadores de Cuba in a World Boxing Association card held today in Palma de Mallorca.
Two-time Olympic champion and holder of the WBA Latin American continental belt, Arlen López secured his seventh professional win by dispatching the tough Argentine Leonel Eduardo Ávila via unanimous verdict. Ávila now holds a record of 12 wins and 5 losses in 17 appearances. Scheduled for 10 rounds, the fight required the 2015 world champion to combine technique and physical stamina to maintain control, landing more frequently and with greater impact.
Saidel Horta, a 2023 world runner-up, and Alejandro Claro, a two-time world bronze medalist, both celebrated unanimous wins in eight-round bouts against more experienced opponents, despite arriving in the Spanish city with only one previous professional outing each.
Horta neutralized the Venezuelan Fernando José Toro across all lines, utilizing a strategy of precise entries and exits marked by defensive prowess and movements that prevented the close-range fighting Toro attempted. This solid demonstration handed the South American his fourth defeat in 15 outings.
Shortly before, Claro effectively dismantled Colombia’s Edinson Martínez from the opening bell. Attacking from angles and distances suited to his advantage, Claro used his jab as a constant tool of punishment, avoiding unnecessary exchanges and leaving Martínez with a record of 15 wins, 8 losses, and 3 draws.
Reports from the venue coincide in highlighting that Friday's success was rooted in the preliminary training camp organized by Agon Sports, the promoter managing the Cuban franchise's presence in these professional circuits. The camp provided a conjunction of factors that contributed to the athletes reaching peak form.
