Accomplices in the Genocide Against the Palestinian People
While Donald Trump claims to have plans to pacify Gaza and bring neoliberalism to the now devastated region, where his “peace plan” continues to cause dozens of murders every day, there’s no doubt that not only the United States but much of the world dominated by Capitalism remains complicit in the ethnic cleansing being carried out by Israel, supplying it with weapons, economic and financial support, and excuses to continue the killing.
This has been happening since 1948 and accelerated after October 2023, without the perpetrators being brought to justice or Israel's crimes being stopped.
Those who denounce this plunder face the greatest repression from Israel's accomplices, revealing the discomfort of Western powers with the few who have had the courage, consistency, and a genuine sense of duty to denounce the ethnic cleansing unleashed by Tel Aviv not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank.
In this context, the dismissal of UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, an Italian diplomat, stands out. This dismissal was promoted by the governments of Germany's Friedrich Merz, France's Emmanuel Macron, and others who have joined the system of complicity to facilitate the extermination of the Palestinian people.
This fact increases the vulnerability of the Palestinian people by eliminating one of the few cracks in the wall of silence imposed by Israel, its allies, and virtually all of the mainstream media, whose leadership sacrifices truth to the service of criminals.
This is even more serious because it occurs at a time when the United States is preparing to complete what Israel began by stealing all of Gaza's land and converting it into a series of tourist, residential, and corporate complexes for the rich and ultra-rich, while Benjamin Netanyahu's regime accelerates the creation of illegal settlements with the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank.
The reality of colonialist ideology and racial supremacism, Zionism, and those who provide it with material, political, diplomatic, or propaganda support, as well as those who prefer to look the other way to preserve professional and business opportunities, is taking hold, without defending freedom of expression, the right to life, justice, tolerance, self-determination, and human dignity.
ESCRUCIATION OF VIOLENCE
Despite a so-called ceasefire—cunningly brokered by Trump—more than 800 Palestinians have been added to the already staggering number of those killed by Israel: more than 70,000, not counting the estimated 8,000 who remain buried under rubble.
This is happening in Gaza, while in recent hours Israel has intensified its violence in the reoccupied West Bank, continuing the demolition of homes and forcing the displacement of residents. Meanwhile, some 54 Palestinians were wounded in an attack by Israeli settlers, Al Jazeera reported.
In a statement, Hamas condemned what it called a “barbaric attack by settler gangs and the (Israeli) occupation army” in areas of Tulkarm and its surroundings, as well as other parts of the territory.
“The government of the war criminal (Prime Minister and fugitive from the International Criminal Court, Benjamin Netanyahu) is systematically implementing a policy of ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people, unleashing heavily armed settlers, protected by the occupying army, to wreak havoc in the cities, towns, and camps of the reoccupied West Bank,” the statement added.
The organization also urged international bodies to take action and called on Palestinians to “unite to confront these dangerous policies and activate all forms of struggle and resistance.”
Organizations not opposed to the United States, such as Doctors Without Borders and Human Rights Watch, each published detailed reports on the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.
DWB’s report, titled “Gaza: Life in a Death Trap,” documented at least 41 attacks against the organization’s staff, including bombings of health facilities and direct fire on humanitarian convoys. It also indicated that the NGO was forced to evacuate hospitals and health centers in at least 17 times.
Along these lines, it denounced the blocking of medical evacuations, as Israel has authorized only 1.6% of the requests, on top of all this , appears the rapid spread of diseases, as confirmed by DWB teams, in a population that had been 90% displaced and was living in miserable conditions.
Therefore, the report joined the calls for an immediate ceasefire and the lifting of the siege to allow for the massive delivery of humanitarian aid. It called on "states, especially Israel's closest allies, to end their unconditional support for Israel and fulfill their obligation to prevent genocide in Gaza."
ANOTHER ACT OF GENOCIDE
For its part, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) report accuses Israel of killing thousands of Palestinians in Gaza by denying them drinking water, which, the organization emphasizes, legally amounts to acts of genocide and extermination.
The 184-page report details that the government Israel has halted water supplies to Gaza, cut off electricity, and restricted fuel, preventing the use of water and sanitation facilities in the enclave. As a result, Palestinians there, only have access to a few liters a day in many areas, well below the 15-liter threshold for survival, according to the group.
"What we’ve discovered is that the Israeli government is intentionally killing Palestinians in Gaza by denying them the water they need to survive," said Lama Fakih, HRW's Middle East director, at a press conference.
"This policy, inflicted as part of the mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, means that Israeli authorities have committed the crime against humanity of extermination, which is currently underway. This policy also amounts to an 'act of genocide' under the 1948 Genocide Convention," HRW condemned in its report on Monday.
