The accident came at 3 p.m. when the plane was approaching Fulton airport in Akron.

State Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Haymaker told the Cleveland.com Web site that there were no survivors in the crash.

There were no reports of casualties on the ground.

The accident could have occurred when the plane struck a high tension wire before crashing into the 4-unit apartment building and bursting into flames, authorities said.

Haymaker said that fortunately there was nobody in the building at the time, otherwise “the situation could have been worse.”

The plane, a Hawker H25, had taken off from Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration said that a team of investigators from the agency is already en route to the accident site.

Akron is a city of 198,000 located 60 km (37 mi.) south of Cleveland.
