Caracas, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Oil Minister Manuel Quevedo rejected the use of the oil market to attack the world's economies, during a meeting prior to the 21st Ministerial Conference of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Russia.

'The oil, gas and petrochemical market has to be used for the development of the peoples. We have to make a panel with global leaders so they accept this commitment,' the official said according to a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

According to the source, Quevedo, who is also the president of the Forum, highlighted in his speech the fundamental role of the oil market at present, also referred to the constant disturbances and attacks to which Venezuela has been subjected.

The minister particularly denounced the attacks on the national electricity system to paralyze the refineries and the failed attempts against President Nicolas Maduro.

Referring to the Russia-Venezuela relations, he said that no new oil supply contracts are being discussed at the moment with Russian oil company Rosneft, but he stressed that both companies enjoy fruitful cooperation.

Quevedo also highlighted the strategic nature and importance of Venezuela's oil offices in Russia.
