At Least 10 Countries to Cuban International Weightlifting Tournament

Ecuador, Brazil, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua are included so far in the dozen countries interested in participating in the Manueal Suarez in Memoriam International weightlifting tournament, from March 22 to 26, in Cuba.

The tournament is expected to receive a Cuban representation to compete with more than 40 athletes, in both sexes, led by three-time world medalist Yoelmis Hernández, in the 85 kg division, according to Cuban online daily sports newspaper Jit, which repoprted this Tuesday.

This tournament established in 1980 pays tribute to the first Cuban weightlifting coach (Manuel Suárez) who managed an athlete from the island, Daniel Núñez (56 kg), to conquer a gold medal in the Olympic Games.
