The Young Art Fund (FAJ) and the United Nations Children's Fund in Cuba (UNICEF Cuba) have announced the second edition of the National Music Competition, an initiative aimed at fostering creativity and artistic expression among adolescents. The event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and seeks to promote spiritual growth and cultural engagement among youth, according to a UNICEF statement.

The competition is open to musicians between 12 and 18 years old, whether formally trained or self-taught, who are residents of Cuba. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2025. Participants must submit a video showcasing their solo performance of one or more musical pieces, which may include complete works, movements, original compositions, songs, or improvisations.

To enter, applicants must complete an online registration form available on the FAJ website, along with a signed consent form from a legal guardian and a brief biography. The competition features three age categories: Group A (12-13 years), Group B (14-15 years), and Group C (16-18 years).

A panel of distinguished national and international musicians, music educators, and representatives from FAJ and UNICEF Cuba will serve as judges. Finalists will be selected before winners are determined, with results announced on both organizations' social media platforms.

Three winners, one from each category, will receive full funding (including travel and accommodation for one accompanying adult) to participate in a week-long creative exchange program in Havana. The program will include rehearsals, masterclasses led by accomplished Cuban musicians and past FAJ awardees, and a culminating concert at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba.

For those facing internet access challenges, alternative submission methods are available by contacting the FAJ operational team at info@artejoven.org or +53 54490431.

This initiative aligns with Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, supporting inclusive environments where children and adolescents can freely engage in cultural and artistic activities while fostering their professional development.
