The world really needs a Global Vaccine Plan to double the production of Covid-19 vaccines and guarantee their equitable distribution, goals far away for various regions, the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres posted on Twitter account, while mentioning three areas to prioritize to improve coronavirus vaccine access.

In this regard, Guterres said that there is an urgent need for a greater exchange of technology and knowledge, the strengthening and development of local production capacities around the world, and addressing bottlenecks in supply chains.

Since mid-2020, Guterres has stressed that in order to face the Covid-19 pandemic it is critical to guarantee an equitable vaccine distribution.

Recently, a joint report by the United Nations Development Program, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the University of Oxford indicated that coronavirus vaccine access inequality will have a lasting and profound effect on socioeconomic recovery.

It is time to quickly guarantee vaccines, wipe out barriers to increased vaccine manufacturing and provide financial support aimed at distributing them equitably in order to achieve a true global economic recovery.

WHO representative in Egypt Gaeema Al Gasseer, on the other hand, regretted the lack of vaccine availability for less developed countries.
