San Remo reinforces cultural ties between Cuba and foreign artists

Havana, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) The San Remo Music Awards Cuba 2022, the first event of its kind held in Latin America, has confirmed the cultural alliance with foreign artists and has reinforced the space as a platform for the visibility of new local talents.

Since the first edition of the event, held in April 2021, the Recording and Music Publishing Company (Egrem) has been supported by national institutions and sponsors from several continents, especially Italy.

According to Egrem General Director Mario Escalona, San Remo is a scenario of creation and cooperation, especially for the performance contest, which was won by Duo Iris, made up of Dayami Perez and Javier Lopez.

The jury, chaired by musician Jorge Luis Robaina, general director of San Remo Music Awards in Cuba and leader of the group Karamba, selected Alejandro Padron in the second place and Saed Mohamed and Dayris Alvarez in the third place.

Escalona described the event as a party conceived for the people, he praised the talent and determination of all 16 young competitors in several galas at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater.

More than 51 Cuban artistic units from various agencies and companies associated with this cultural event and a similar number of professionals from Italy, Mexico, Spain, the United States and Belgium took part in the shows.
