The traditional humidor auction as part of the 24th edition of the Habano Festival raised a record number of 17.8 million Euros to be donated to the Cuban Public Health System.
The auction took place last night at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana during the gala dinner that closed the Festival and was attended by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.
Considered one of the most important moments of each Festival, the auction was organized by the Habanos S.A. Corporation and is a show of generosity and humanity of those in love with the best tobacco in the world, the Habano.
This year’s auctioned humidors are a tribute to the world’s most renowned cigar brands, as well as to those that are celebrating their anniversaries, as is the case of Trinidad, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary.
The pieces auctioned, according to the Corporation, are unique and carefully handcrafted, with a careful selection of emblematic vitolas from each of the most exclusive and prestigious cigar brands, such as H.Upmann, Hoyo de Monterrey, Partagás, Romeo y Julieta, Montecristo, the famous Cohiba, and on this occasion Trinidad.
Each cigar included in the auction’s humidors was handmade with long filler by the best cigar rollers from the country’s most renowned cigar factories, according to Habanos.
The Habano Festival -from February 26 to March 1- was attended by more than 2,900 participants from 108 countries. It was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Quai D’Orsay brands, and the Special vitola in honor of Trinidad’s 55th anniversary was presented worldwide.
