World Athletics (WA) closed the qualification process for the Bahamas 2024 World Athletics Relay Championship and confirmed that Cuba has four reserved slots.
The deadline for the evaluation of marks ended on Wednesday, so the governing body of the King Sport on the planet began the certification of quotas.
The Island's federation received the green light to register its 4x100m relay of each sex, together with the women's and mixed 4x400m relay.
Although the definitive integration of each team will be known in the coming days, it is almost certain that Roxana Gomez, Rose Mary Almanza and Sahily Diago will repeat the experience of the Silesia 2021 edition, where they won the scepter.
Lisneydis Veitía, also a regular in that formation, should appear among the chosen ones, although it will be necessary to wait for the medical evaluations after presenting discomfort during the National Championship of Sprint Athletics Rafael Fortún in Memoriam of Camagüey 2024, which will lower its curtains this Friday.
The other Silesian champion, Zurian Hechavarría, will be absent due to an injury.
The performance in the World Relay Championship, on May 4 and 5, will be key for the aspirations of reaching the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as it will distribute places to the 14 best teams in each specialty.
The eight finalist relay teams will have a direct quota. Those that do not reach that stage will participate in another race to define the six remaining places.
Three of the five versions of these events, held since 2014, have been held at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in the capital of the Bahamas.
