With traces of good alternative music, excellent alternative music with swing and Cuban identity, this group shone on the 19th edition of the Piña Colada Festival. We found them there and sized the chance to talk with its leader, Zeney Alonso Pérez.

He told us that this is the second time they participated in this party of Ciego de Avila: "From the first it was a huge emotion, because the Piña brings together many of the most important alternative music groups in the country. El land of the Mulato Acelera’o it’s something magical and the Plaza too..."

He refers to two of the usual stages for this meeting of music and youth that has just finished in Ciego de Avila and about which Zeney commented:

"It’s a festival where we have the opportunity to socialize with other musicians of the genre, who are very good friends, but normally we don’t meet because of the job and other things, but also, the public from this province is wonderful and we are in love with Ciego de Ávila”.

Of course, we were not leaving without finding out what the boys from this band are up to, which for several years has been growing in the preference of Cuban men and women:

"Right now we are in the process of recording our second CD, under the EGREM record label and we are very focused on that, we have many guests artists, friends, on our CD, which is going to be accompanied by a DVD, which we’re going film live, where many friends will come together, they will collaborate with this production, they are all artists who have a direct influence on Toques del Río and they say that it has been reciprocal and that right now is the greatest thing for us, because we are very young within the music scene

He is also the bassist of the group and he finished saying with a certainty that we share with the followers of Toques del Río, so they can rest at ease: "the path you’re following is the right one..."
