The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, highlighted Friday the potentialities of Ciego de Avila province to achieve food sovereignty, despite the economic difficulties faced by the country.
During the PCC’s extraordinary plenary meeting in that location, Diaz-Canel expressed his confidence that Ciego de Avila can achieve this goal, given the good quality of its soils, water and productive culture.
The Cuban president insisted upon the role of leaders in the socioeconomic development of the province.
“Many times, beyond the necessary resources, reality has shown how decisive management and leadership are, that is to say, the work of leaders,” he underscored.
As reported by the Presidency of the Republic on X, the plenary session dealt with cadre policies and the degree of attention and support that should be given to local leaders of political and mass organizations.
Friday’s session was a follow-up to a series of extraordinary plenary sessions that are being held all throughout the country, to assess results in key issues, such as the correction and revitalization of the economy.
After the meeting, President Diaz-Canel went to the municipality of La Sierpe, in Sancti Spiritus province.
The Presidency of the Republic indicated this way the president resumes first hand exchanges in communities, as part of a tour he began in January, after which he stopped in September to assess the party work system.
